A short interview about my work as a wedding photographer

What’s so special about wedding photography?
I am passionate about wedding photography and it has become my professional quest to document people’s emotions in extraordinary pictures. Moving incidents are particularly abundant at weddings. Not only does it enable me to photograph the wedding couple with family and friends, it also gives me the opportunity to accompany them through the important day in a spontaneous and intuitive manner. This allows me to combine my personal motivation with a professional quest for high-quality pictures. Wedding photography continues to provide me with positive challenges, as the diversity of locations demands a great deal of professional flexibility. Numerous positive reactions from wedding couples attest to the fact that I am on the right track.

What would you consider to be the most compelling moments at a wedding?
A wedding is always comprised of a string of special moments, which all have slightly different qualities. I enjoy the quiet moments during the wedding ceremony, which are emotionally charged for the wedding couple, their family and their friends, a much as the boisterous high jinks at the wedding reception, later in the evening.

Do you prefer to employ report-style photography or portraits?
Report-style photography is obviously more prominent because I spend the day experiencing the occasion together with the wedding couple, their family and friends. However, this does mean that the portrait photography is entirely neglected. I do not photograph the wedding couple in static positions. My pictures are the products of spontaneous actions and are taken, with a good deal of enthusiasm, at exactly at the right moment. I consider it to be my professional duty to recognise the right moments and to translate them into aesthetically gratifying pictures.

What has influenced your particular style?
I am interested in report and documentary photography. This kind of photography not only demands a high level of technical proficiency but also requires a sense of intuitive behaviour and the capacity to take action at exactly the right moment. These skills are not only necessary in difficult situations, however, they can also be put to good use where people come together to celebrate a joyful event. Moreover, I am always happy to cover the proceedings — passionately and professionally.

Do you offer additional options?
Couples can book the “photo booth” – a mobile photography studio – for their weddings, “trash the dress” shootings – for after the wedding, and exclusive designs for stylish volumes, coffee table books and magazine-style albums. A spontaneous “engagement shooting” can be organised for couples who wish to sample my work before the big day.

Hochzeitsfotos im Wasserschloss DĂĽrremungenau – Die Hochzeit von Tina und Timo

21.01.2012 :: International Wedding Photographer Thomas Riess - Fotograf Hochzeit

15.01.2012 :: International Wedding Photographer Thomas Riess - Fotograf Hochzeit

15.01.2012 :: International Wedding Photographer Thomas Riess - Fotograf Hochzeit

Thomas Riess

Wedding photography in Phuket / Thailand – The tropical wedding of Seyma and Max at Trisara privat pool villas

23.12.2011 :: International Wedding Photographer Thomas Riess - Fotograf Hochzeit

Back in June this year I received a inquiry for a wedding that was planned to happen in November at the intimate and exclusive Resort Trisara in Thailand’s south island Phuket. I have had immediately checked my travel itinerary and luckily my already booked flight to Bangkok was scheduled for November the 3rd.  Checked Air Asia for a connection flight straight to Phuket and yes, I could possible arrive there in time. So I sent out my offer and after some nice conversations with Seyma regarding some specific details for the wedding a confirmation showed up in my mail account. Cannot describe how excited I was being the wedding photographer on that special day, cause Thailand is still more to me than a second home since many years.

Some month later: Arrived in Bangkok some hours too late but thanks to the highly motivated team at Air Asia I had caught the flight to Phuket and arrived late night at the airport, checked in my bungalow and felt asleep. At the very next day I took a taxi to Trisara resort to meet with Seyma and Max the happy and  pleasant wedding couple from Dubai to discuss everything about the wedding day ahead.

At the final wedding day, the bridal preparations were already in full swing when I arrived at the Resort. While champagne and relaxed music provided a great atmosphere, the girls enjoyed the bridal styling in their luxury pool villa in the jungle. The wedding ceremony has became closer and finally the beautiful and charming bride was led by her proud father to the altar near the beachfront where the groom with his wedding guests already waited for the arrival of the bride. Congratulations from the wedding guest followed after a touching ceremony under palm trees and we set off to take some official wedding photos and group shoots around the resort. Before Seyma and Max later opened the dance floor to start an unforgettable wedding party, a fire show was held on the beach.

Wanna get married at TRISARA Private Pool Villas in Phuket Thailand? please check their website for further information.
